The Portland man who admitted to Vice that he killed a “Patriot Prayer” pro-Trump caravaner, was himself killed by a police task force attempting to arrest him for the crime.
In a video interview published by Vice News, Michael Forest Reinoehl said he killed Aaron “Jay” Danielson because he “had no choice.” He claimed that Danielson was about to kill a “a friend of mine of color,” and he was simply protecting his friend. We may never really know the truth of that claim since Reinoehl is now also dead.
He had to know the Feds were coming. He just went public with a reporter admitting he killed a man. The same day the interview published, the police obtained an arrest warrant, the New York Times reported.
Mr. Reinoehl, who lived in the Portland area, had been a persistent presence at the city’s demonstrations over recent weeks, helping the protesters with security and suggesting on social media that the struggle was becoming a war where “there will be casualties.”
It seems Reinoehl, who previously served in the Army according to Vice, wanted a war, and he got it.
“I am 100% ANTIFA all the way!” he posted on Instagram in June, referring to a loose collection of activists who have mobilized to oppose groups they see as fascist or racist. “I am willing to fight for my brothers and sisters! Even if some of them are too ignorant to realize what antifa truly stands for. We do not want violence but we will not run from it either!”
Antifa is a collection violent, anarchist, hardened anti-police thugs, mixed in with cosplaying foolish flamethrower-wielding kids who drop into a fetal position and cry when they’re taken into custody.
[Reinoehl] had not turned himself in, he said, because he believed right-wing protesters were collaborating with police, who will not protect him or his family.
He really thought the police were on the side of the pro-Trump caravaners, who made a really dumb decision by driving straight through an Antifa protest area. The Portland police have kept their distance from the nightly protests, which at some point always turn destructive and violent.
He said at the time of the confrontation and the shooting, there were no police present to help. “There was definitely nobody in sight, no police officer, nobody at all that could intervene. It was a free-for-all. And the police were letting it happen,” he said.
As an anarchist, I thought this is what he wanted–no government, no police. In the end, he got his confrontation, and wasted his life–or perhaps Antifa will use him as some kind of twisted martyr, which will recruit more violent thugs.
It’s a very bad trend, in any case.
When we have large groups of heavily armed individuals who think of “them” as hate-filled killers, and police restrained from ending daily riots, Reinoehl’s prediction will likely prove true: “there will be casualties.”
