SCOTUS Saturday: COVID Jail

Even though opinions are not being produced, we are still seeing the Supreme Court intervene in some matters as other cases continue in some courts.

In a 5-4 decision along ideological lines, a stay of a federal district court injunction that requires the Orange County Jail in Santa Ana, California to follow some COVID social distancing measures was put in place. The prison officials stated that the injunction was improper micromanaging of the system. The stay is in place pending the appeal to the 9th Circuit.

Justice Sotomayor wrote a lengthy dissent of the stay.
