LOL. Brainless Mass Lawmaker Wants Patriots to Sign Kaepernick.

I shudder at the genetic future of the Kennedy family. As the Scarecrow in "The Wizard of Oz" said: "I don't know. But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking, don't they?" Yeah.

The NFL is way, way too late to the kneeling party, especially in supporting Black Lives Matter. Commissioner Roger Goodell finally capitulated in a gritted-teeth white man apology crafted by the unlucky staffers who voluntold for this task, because they happened to be in his Manhattan office, or because they joined the Zoom meeting at the wrong time and forgot to hit mute.

In response to this, racist grifter Al Sharpton said, at George Floyd’s funeral, the NFL should rehire Colin Kaepernick, in some kind of reparation for paying the other, better qualified, black millionaires in the league for not sufficiently bludgeoning players who won’t kneel before the Social Justice Warrior altar.

Then, pretending as if his desiccated intellect were capable of hatching an original idea, Rep. Joe Kennedy, of the Massachusetts Kennedys, tweeted “The NFL should apologize to Colin Kaepernick and the Patriots should sign him.”

This, of course, is preposterous. First, Kaepernick is not good enough to play for the Patriots, never mind follow in GOAT Tom Brady’s shoes. Second, Kaepernick would fit in with the “Patriot Way,” the essence of which is three words: Do Your Job, about as well as Paul Krugman fits in at a biker bar in Pittsburgh.

The only reason anyone would suggest this, apart from the actual reason Joe Kennedy did, which is to aggressively pander like a homeless person panhandling in Seattle’s Pioneer Square, is to suggest that the NFL simply owes black people, qualified or not, some kind of cash reward for “standing up” to the billionaires who pay them.

Goodell’s stilted, hard boiled and overcooked statement contains a pearl of truth, which puts the lie to Kaepernick ever playing in the NFL again.

“Without black players, there would be no National Football League. And the protests around the country are emblematic of the centuries of silence, inequality and oppression of black players, coaches, fans and staff. We are listening. I am listening, and I will be reaching out to players who have raised their voices and others on how we can improve and go forward for a better and more united NFL family.”

Black players play for the NFL, and make NFL player salaries, the minimum of which this year is $480,000, because they are the best of the best in playing football. Players will tell you that “NFL” also means “Not For Long.” Imagine having a job where you are being evaluated to get fired every single time you do the job, and there are 500 people who want your job, and may only be a tenth of a second slow, or 20 pounds of deadweight, away from taking it.

Competition is what makes the NFL compelling to watch. Social justice is what destroys sports. Hiring Kaepernick is the path to destruction.

But the Patriots? LOL. I don’t think Kaepernick would ever play for Belichick, even if Robert Kraft ordered Bill’s water drugged with a hallucinogen. Plus, Kraft himself is a–gasp–personal friend of Donald Trump.

Why anyone would give a nanosecond of thought to this truly stillborn idea is beyond me. Even Sharpton didn’t suggest it, he just said the NFL should hire Kaepernick. That in itself is not a bad idea. They could make Kaepernick some kind of race relations ombudsman, and let him preen for the cameras. But he shouldn’t play, and definitely not for the Patriots.

I shudder at the genetic future of the Kennedy family. As the Scarecrow in “The Wizard of Oz” said: “I don’t know. But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking, don’t they?” Yeah.
