UPDATED: A CNN Crew Was Just Arrested By Minnesota Police Live On-Air

A CNN reporter was arrested while reporting on the unrest in Minneapolis just a few short hours ago. The clip clearly shows a calm and respectful Omar Jimenez explaining the situation to viewers and repeatedly telling law enforcement that he and his team will move “where ever they need them to move”.

Mid-sentence, an officer appears to whisper in Omar’s ear that he is being arrested. Shortly after that, the rest of the camera crew are all arrested.

The eeriest part of this is the police officer walking away with the camera pointed at the ground, completely unaware that CNN is still rolling.

The optics of this are really, really bad. Protests are happening because police officers killed a black man who clearly said “I can’t breathe”. Now white police officers are arresting a black reporter who multiple times said “we will move where ever you need us to move.”

If you’re having a bad day just remember, someone is the head of PR for Minnesota police. 😬

UPDATE: The Governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz has apologized to CNN President Jeff Zucker for the situation.
