Happy Mother’s Day From Planned Parenthood?

On a day when mothers and motherhood are celebrated across the country, does anyone else find this from Planned Parenthood to be more than just a little ironic?

It does not take long going through the replies to discern that perhaps the only ones who do not find it to be ironic are the faceless (and heartless) persons at Planned Parenthood who thought it would be a good idea to put up a Mother’s Day greeting in the first place – from the organization that actively precludes women from becoming mothers, many for the first time.

Here’s some perspective. According to the Susan B. Anthony List’s analysis of Planned Parenthood’s 2018-2019 Annual Report, Planned Parenthood performed 345,672 abortions in 2018-19 – an increase of nearly 13,000 from the previous year – and more than 3.3 million abortions (3,302,184) over the past 10 reported years (2009-19).  If you are keeping score at home, there is a one to one correlation between aborted babies and would be mothers.  That is 345,672 children who will never wish their mother a happy Mother’s Day.

As Melanie Israel notes in a commentary on the issue for The Heritage Foundation, the 342,672 abortions is record number of abortions performed by Planned Parenthood in a single reporting year.  I suppose that Planned Parenthood is quietly(?) celebrating that dubious achievement, and yet, Planned Parenthood thought it would be a great idea to wish everyone a happy Mother’s Day.

This Mother’s Day greeting from Planned Parenthood is at best tone deaf, and at worst, a reminder that the organization has no regard to the underlying values and benefits of mothers and motherhood, never mind the lives of scores of unborn children.

Planned Parenthood should have sat this one out.
