Joe Biden’s accuser says she did not file a report alleging that the then-senator committed sexual harassment or sexual assault. The AP reports that Tara Reade has admitted that her complaints did not specifically mention either charge.
“I remember talking about him wanting me to serve drinks because he liked my legs and thought I was pretty and it made me uncomfortable,” Reade said in an interview with The Associated Press. “I know that I was too scared to write about the sexual assault.”
“The main word I used — and I know I didn’t use sexual harassment — I used ‘uncomfortable,’” Reade said. “And I remember ‘retaliation.’”
Reade’s revelation means that, even if a copy of the report can be located, it is unlikely that it will shed further light on her accusations against Biden. Reade said that she does not have a copy of the report and Biden has asked the National Archives to search for its copy, if it exists.
Although several people have said that Reade told them about the incident, she has changed her story several times and there seems to be no direct evidence supporting her claim of sexual assault. Without the complaint to corroborate her story, the accusation against Biden seems certain to fall flat.
