I was fine when the NBA season was postponed and even grateful when MLB was delayed (waste of a sport) but this is too far. ESPN analyst and SEC hater, Kirk Herbstreit, predicts that College Football and the NFL likely won’t happen this year.
“I’ll be shocked if we have NFL football this fall, if we have college football. I’ll be so surprised if that happens,”
Just because, from what I understand, people that I listen to, you’re 12 to 18 months from a [COVID-19] vaccine. I don’t know how you let these guys go into locker rooms and let stadiums be filled up and how you can play ball. I just don’t know how you can do it with the optics of it.
Look, as a lifelong Tennessee fan, this is all probably for the best. Year after year of perpetual sucking and gut-wrenching losses can’t be good for my mental health or my liver. After losing to BYU and a school that shall not be named, this proposal floated by the fan base may inadvertently be coming to life.
While I am grateful we do not have to deal with the insufferableness of March Madness or baseballs 984 regular-season games, this is all very sad. One good sign? The NFL draft is not being postponed… YET.
