Biden Wins Again

The former vice president won blowout victories in Florida and Illinois. Arizona has not been called.

With the focus on Coronavirus, it’s easy to forget that an election is going on. However, tonight’s primaries continue Joe Biden’s road to the Democratic nomination.

In Florida, Biden won a 40-point victory over Bernie Sanders. In Illinois, Biden’s 20-point lead seems close by comparison.

Arizona’s race has not been called yet, but Biden is favored to win there as well. The Real Clear Politics polling average gave the Delaware Democrat an 18-point advantage going into Election Day.

A fourth primary was originally scheduled to be held today. Ohio Gov. Mike Dewine ignored a court ruling and postponed the state’s primary until June over Coronavirus fears.

Tonight’s victories mean that Joe Biden is opening up a wider delegate lead over Sanders. The current estimate gives Biden 1,121 delegates to Sanders’s 839. A total of 1,991 delegates are needed to win the nomination.
