Will Grocery Stores and Gas Stations Please Expand Apple Pay Now?

I am a huge fan of Apple Pay. It is quicker than using cards with chips. In the age of the Wuhan virus, it is also far more sanitary.

I highly doubt grocery stores, gas stations, etc. are wiping down the number pads between uses as Americans get their grubby, unclean fingers all over the place. Then there are the large touch screens at the self-checkout in grocery stores.

It sure would be nice if the major grocery chains, gas stations, etc. focused on contactless payment upgrades so I never have to touch a keypad again. I realize gas pumps have to be touched. But minimizing other points of contact would be great for hygiene.

If you have not used Apple Pay or Google Pay, etc. the experience is far quicker than putting the chip cards in. In a lot of cases, the machines are programmed not to ask you for a signature or even a debit PIN number if you use the system. Some still require the PIN or a signature, but that can be phased out and should be phased out.

Frankly, this is something Apple should be pushing hard right now.
