WATCHING FOOTBALL: XFL Week 4 2019

Here's this week's games!

Well, the week’s over, and now it’s time to kick back. Not for me, though! I’ll be on the road. Thank goodness my treasured football games are on satellite radio.

But you’ll be watching on TV. So let me help you out, if you’re football-ly inclined.

Below I’ll preview every XFL game this weekend. And there’s some doozies. I’ll give you the start time, TV channel, and even pick the winner.

Still, I know that XFL game previews are . . . not the usual Resurgent fare, to say the least. So going forward, until college football’s back, I’ll be posting these previews on Medium every Friday instead. You can find them on Twitter if you follow me here, as well as rankings and live tweets!

Oh, and all times below are in God’s Time Zone. Let’s get goin’!

SATURDAY

New York Guardians vs. LA Wildcats (ABC, 1p): The blazing dumpster fire that is the Guardians at least gets the Wildcats at home. It remains to be seen how many New Yorkers will show up, and whether they’ll be kind to their team. (My guess on both: not many, and not very.) Josh Johnson looked controlled and precise last week against DC, as he led the formerly struggling Wildcats to an unexpected victory. I think he’ll roll to another one. PICK: LA

St. Louis BattleHawks vs. Seattle Dragons (FOX, 4p): Welcome to the Dome, Seattle! And you thought your hometown crowd advantage was something. The rabid St. Louis crowd played havoc with the Guardians last week, and I don’t think the Dragons have the mental fortitude to stand up to that kind of high-decibel onslaught. Expect a big day for Jordan Te’amu and De’Mornay Pierson-El, his favorite target. PICK: St. Louis

SUNDAY

Dallas Renegades vs. Houston Roughnecks (FS1, 3p): The only home state rivalry in the XFL, this one is just itching to get testy. Landry Jones is rounding into his stride as a capable commander of Hal Mumme’s wide open Dallas offense, and Cameron Artis-Payne is the single best running weapon in the league. But then there’s Houston. The Roughnecks have the most potent offense out there, and a stingy turnover-hunting D to boot. This one should be spectacular. PICK: Houston

Tampa Bay Vipers vs. DC Defenders (ESPN2, 6p): Have you ever knocked over a hive of bees? Then you’re well aware of how angry the Defenders will be. Cardale Jones and the denizens of the District will be more than happy to introduce the hapless Vipers, now Quinton-Flowers-less, to the ground, repeatedly. This could get ugly. PICK: DC

There we go! Remember, you can find all my future XFL content on Twitter, and as always, happy watching!
