Democrats are making abortion a purity test for their voters.

Twice in the last week, Democrat front runners have said there isn’t room for a pro-lifer in their party.

While Republicans are busy trying to expand their tent to include more voters, it seems as if the Democrats are hell-bent on expunging those voters who don’t align with every platform issue.

The most recent purity test involves abortion and those who are pro-life and trying to fit into the current Democrat party.

Several days ago, during a town hall, Pete Buttigieg was asked by an audience member if there was room in the Democrat party for an individual that is pro-life. Specifically, the audience member was Kristen Day, the head of a group called Democrats for Life.

So, if there is a group called Democrats for Life, there must be more than a handful of Democrat voters who don’t agree with the radical abortion stance the rest of the party takes right? That would be my assumption.

But, as usual, one Democrat does not a trend make. Enter Bernie Sanders.

Sanders was speaking recently at a forum sponsored by NARAL, the Center for Reproduction Rights, and Demand Action and was asked by the host if there was any such thing as a pro-life Democrat. His response was:

I think being pro-choice is an absolutely essential part of being a democrat. If you’re asking me, I think, I may be wrong on this, I think in the Senate, probably 95% of the Democrats are pro-choice, you have a few who are not. In the house, maybe even a higher percentage. So that’s kind of what my view is. I think by this time in history I think when we talk about what a Democrat is, I think being pro-choice is an essential part.

In the span of a week, two of the top candidates for the Democrat party have stated that being pro-life is incompatible with the current agenda.

If there isn’t space in that party, those pro-life Democrats are welcome on our side.
