The Solemn Occasion of the Democrats’ F.U.

So much of the media hyped up the Democrats’ impeachment yesterday. Yes, it is historic and we should not undermine that. But the drip, drip, drip of potential witnesses never vetted by the House, the partisan vote of it, the antics of Nancy Pelosi trying to game it, etc. would be ripe for ridicule if the press were fair.

What the theatrical impeachment is, is a giant middle finger to the President and the GOP. The impeachment will be “forever” as Nancy Pelosi said to cheering progressive activists.

This continues to be a partisan affair. The only people demanding the President be impeached are the ones who never wanted him and still don’t. Instead of trying to persuade, they’ve tried to manipulate a solemn constitutional process, break down the barriers within Article I of the constitution while screaming about the constitution, and bully people.

This is a real impeachment. It is not a coup. But it is really just a big F.U. without depth or merit to warrant a conviction. The Democrats could have done a diligent job, subpoenaed witnesses they now demand the Senate call, and built a public case. They really just wanted to fundraise and excite their base while giving various Trump hating reporters priapism.

It’s time to move on.
