The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) just launched a new podcast: 20 for 20.

The first episode, which premiered on Tuesday, features Senator Todd Young (R-IN). Senator Young also serves as NRSC Chairman. Check out the teaser below:

It’s smart to see conservatives and Republicans dabble in this medium more.

The podcast bills itself as a political one that isn’t explicitly political—except for the final 1-2 minutes of each episode.

Co-hosts Kevin McLaughlin and Matt Whitlock, NRSC Executive Director and NRSC Senior Advisor, respectively, will dedicate 20 minutes with 2020 Republican Senators and candidates each episode “to talk about who they are and what they love.” Episodes will drop Tuesdays.

Co-host McLaughlin laid out the premise of the podcast as follows:

“The purpose of this podcast is to help you get to know our members beyond politics,” he said. “We’re going to have members of the Republican Senate Caucus come on and they’re not going to talk about anything that has to do with legislating or clotures. They’re going to talk about Star Wars, Taco Bell, baseball, rap, whatever it is they like to do outside of politics.”

A trailer for the second episode, featuring Senate Majority Leader “Cocaine Mitch” McConnell, is expected to drop today.

In an email to The Resurgent, the co-hosts described McConnell’s episode as one where “Leader McConnell will talk about everything from Louisville sports to his favorite sandwiches, the birth of cocaine Mitch, and everything in between.”

NRSC is a national organization whose goal is to strengthen the current Republican Senate Majority and equally help elect more Republicans to the chamber. Here is more on their efforts via their website:

We provide invaluable support and assistance to current and prospective Republican U.S. Senate candidates in the areas of budget planning, election law compliance, fundraising, communications tools and messaging, and research and strategy.

There are 35 U.S. Senate seats up for election next year—including 23 Republican ones. Democrats are eagerly hoping to flip the chamber—making it critically important for Republicans to hold the fort.
