A student body president at the University of Florida has been threatened with impeachment.

Michael Murphy has been accused of misusing student fees.

Apparently, impeachment fever is sweeping up not only the federal government, but the student government at the University of Florida. The student Senate, full of the well-intentioned woke, have threatened student body president Michael Murphy with impeachment for daring to bring Donald Trump Jr. and Kimberly Guilfoyle for a one-hour event.

The basis of the impeachment threat is alleged misuse of student fees totaling $50,000. While questions have been raised about the legality of using student fees for such an event, the student Senate has accused Murphy:

Of using the fees to “advance his own expressed political beliefs” and endangering “students marginalized by the speakers’ white nationalist supporters.”

The legal question regards the prohibition of funds for a campaign event, which the student Senate asserts it was and which Mr. Murphy vehemently denies. A university spokesperson stated that Trump and Guilfoyle were made aware of prior to the event and that the pair did not engage in campaign activities while on campus.

In a statement that should surprise almost no one, one of the student Senators said:

Murphy’s campus party blocked discussions of the visit beforehand and has shut out student government members with opposing viewpoints.

“They’re basically silencing the voices,” he said. “They’re choosing to benefit the Trump family but not the students. It’s really an insult and a disgrace to the student body to be silent about something students are so passionate about.”

This is especially rich considering how conservative and Republican speakers have been treated on campuses across the country.

Additional reporting has noted that:

Murphy also reached out to the campaign of Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders to invite him to the campus. The Sanders campaign declined, citing scheduling issues.
