About That ‘We Need to Eat the Babies’ Lady at AOC’s Town Hall

You probably have seen that viral clip from Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) town hall last night with a distressed woman calling for people to eat babies.

Here’s the exchange:

It almost sounds straight out of Johnathan Swift’s satirical work, A Modest Proposal. And AOC’s non-response to the so-called constituent was jarring. How could she have been so unaffected by those words? Was it the appropriate response?

Here’s what AOC tweeted in response to their exchange:

This morning, the congresswoman suggested the plant was a Trump supporter, but it turns out that’s not the case.

While some scientists have been calling for cannibalism as an antidote to climate change, this woman turned out to be plant from the fringe LaRoche PAC group—which has Marxist origins but now dabbles in neofascism and anti-Semitism.

Matthew Sweet of the BBC highlighted their history:

Climate doomism is a threat to people’s well-being, but pushing hoaxes are just as detrimental.
