In a Washington Post op-ed, Flake argues Republicans shouldn’t support a Trump re-election bid, and that Trump should be impeached.
I think we all regrettably remember former Arizona Senate “Republican” Jeff Flake and his bold conservatism. Flake retired from the Senate last year but that hasn’t kept him from continuing to criticize the current administration, and he’s using the Washington Post as a soapbox.
The Democrats have decided that the best path forward, and
the undoing of the 2016 election, is through impeachment of President Trump. And
Flake has jumped on board to support those impeachment proceedings.
Writing in an op-ed in the Washington Post, Flake
“Whether you believe the president deserves impeachment, you know he does not deserve reelection… With what we now know, the president’s actions warrant impeachment.”
Now that is quite the leap from everything I’ve seen. If
Trump had acted in a manner that would warrant impeachment, I would fully
support that move. But as more and more information emerges regarding Trump’s
call to Ukraine, the more shaky the Democrat’s impeachment grounds look.
It seems that Flake is trying to rehabilitate his GOP image and become friends with the Left and Democrats, just like he tried during the Kavanaugh confirmation hearings. So, we can probably expect more of the same from him in the future.
