We all knew this was coming. The President’s personal lawyer-cum-diplomat-cum-fixer has been subpoenaed in the House inquiry into Trump’s possible impeachment.
The House subpoena gives Giuliani until October 15 to provide documents.
Your failure or refusal to comply with the subpoena, including at the direction or behest of the President or the White House, shall constitute evidence of obstruction of the House’s impeachment inquiry and may be used as an adverse inference against you and the President.
With all the contradictory statements Giuliani has made lately, it will be hard to know where to draw the line on attorney-client privilege. I still think it’s time for Rudy to retire and for Trump and the White House to distance themselves.
Between Giuliani and Trump’s tweets attacking the whistleblower and accusing Rep. Adam Schiff of treason, there will be more than enough material for the House Democrats to review.
Maybe that’s Giuliani’s strategy…to provide so much documentation that the Intelligence Committee staffers go blind. But seriously, every day of the Trump and Rudy show brings the President just a little closer to serious danger of impeachment.
Who knows, maybe that’s what he wants. Trump always likes dramatic comebacks. It makes for better television, and this season is about to hit the finale.
