That’s It? Seriously? It Ain’t Good. But It Isn’t Impeachable.

Here is the transcript. The Biden name comes up three times.

The President is first convinced the Democrats tried to use Ukraine to get dirt on him. He wants answers. Then, relatedly, he wants the President of Ukraine to talk to the Attorney General to see if Biden improperly used his influence to oust a former state prosecutor who was looking into Biden’s son’s company.

We should not want the President to use his power to steer foreign governments against his political opponents. We should recognize that there are allegations the Democrats did that against Trump, but what is right is right and what is wrong is wrong. Whether Democrats did it or not, it does not mean Trump should have.

But I did read the transcript and cannot help but think this is not a big deal. It’s not good, but this is Trump we are talking about. He’s not a super genius playing 5 dimensional chess. He’s a gut level politician and old man. This is the sort of stuff baked into the calculation of supporting a guy like that.

I just don’t see this is impeachable.

Obviously, what is going to happen is this will become a morality tale where if you don’t demand his resignation or impeachment you’re a partisan hack and if you do you are a noble saint of Patriotic America.

But it is silly. It is stupid. It just isn’t all that big a deal. It’s Trump being Trump. Vote against him if you don’t like it, but impeachment for this is silly. Settle this at the ballot box.
