A Dangerous Precedent Not Worth Defending…If It Happened as Reported

If…if…if…and yes, the way this game works everyone gets spun up into outrage overdrive and then we find out it didn’t really happen the way it is being reported…but if the President of the United States told a foreign government that it needed to investigate his political rival to get favorable treatment from this nation, that is bad.

It is bad enough that Rudy Giuliani is admitting he pushed Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden and his son. But Rudy, we have seen, is a dolt whose wife could stump him by hiding the remote control.

If, however, the President of the United States got involved and pressured a country to investigate a rival in exchange for American largesse, we have a real problem.

Should this have happened and your instinct is to defend the President, consider a Democrat doing it to a person you prefer. What if, in fact, the next Democrat urged a country to investigate a Republican rival?

If…if…if…if this happened as reported, we have a problem. I am just now decidedly in the camp of not actually believing the press without multiple corroborating sources.
