The New York Times, several of its reporters, and progressive partisans are attacking Brett Kavanaugh again. This is all to promote a book by two reporters attempting to re-litigate the Kavanaugh matter. The reporters are not objective or reviewing the evidence, but working backwards from damning Kavanaugh. That requires twisting facts, ignoring inconvenient truths, and rewriting history.
Look no further than the initial New York Times reporting on Sunday that leaves out a key detail — the supposed victim of a Kavanaugh attack has no memory of it.
In fact, as John McCormack notes, the purported victim did not report the matter to the FBI. Max Stier reported it to the FBI.
Stier, we should note, played a role in helping Bill Clinton during the Monica Lewinsky matter.
Couple Stier with Jane Mayer at the New Yorker, who lamented she had not done enough for Anita Hill, and it seems we have a bunch of progressive people trying to make amends for their own past through the Kavanaugh witch hunt.
Mollie Hemingway, by the way, has written her own book into the Kavanaugh matter and got an advanced copy of the latest. She has a very useful Twitter thread here and this tweet is significant.
There is one more thing worth noting. I am struck by just how partisan Kavanaugh’s accusers and supposed witnesses are. It is not just that they are all politically active, but that every one of them is politically active on the left.
Even Christine Blasey Ford, we now know from her own lawyer, was motivated to save Roe v. Wade.
The facts are that the Senate Judiciary Committee and FBI did conduct a thorough investigation. They spoke to 35 individuals. They had close to two dozen staff level investigators. They could not get Debbie Ramirez to even cooperate and they could not get any eye witnesses to corroborate her story or Ford’s story.
This new effort to attack Brett Kavanaugh has everything to do with settling scores and nothing to do with truth. For a portion of those zealously trying to destroy Brett Kavanaugh, this is about repenting for their own roles or lack of effort during the Anita Hill or Monica Lewinsky matters.
What is clear is that the left will keep refighting old fights trying always to change outcomes and delegitimize outcomes they do not like.
