Helping the Bahamas is in Our National Security Interest

One of the areas of foreign aid a lot of people ignore is that China is using its foreign aid budget to make inroads into the Western Hemisphere. Through dropping cash, building good will, and making loans, China is taking over rare earth minerals operations, etc. They are spending money to spread power.

The Bahamas is going to be the next landing ground for Chinese money. As Axios is reporting, China already has had Hawei in there building telecom infrastructure.

It is to our national security advance and in our national security interest to make sure Americans are the ones in there helping the Bahamians rebuild. It would be a dangerous thing for us to allow China to make inroads into Bahamian infrastructure.

Some on the right oppose foreign aid, but this is a matter of our actual national security. Congress should treat this situation as a friend and ally in real trouble and prepare to spend what it takes to draw the Bahamas towards us and away from China.
