We Can’t Do It Because We Are Christians

The President tweeted yesterday wondering why so many conservatives react with condemnation towards someone harassing Chris Cuomo when progressives do that sort of harassment all the time.

It is worth noting that most conservatives actually did not defend Cuomo and his idiocy on Fredo. They did defend him reacting angrily to someone harassing him in front of his family. We all got a good laugh out of him proving he really is as dim as Fredo, but we understandably saw a man with his family being harassed and were not upset he pushed back against the braying jackass targeting him.

As to the jackass harassing Cuomo, I cannot speak for the atheist strain of conservatism that has cropped up among the grafting segments of the movement, but a large number of conservatives are people of faith and cannot behave that way based on the tenets of their faith.

Frankly, it is the reason so many progressive, secular types are willing to show up at people’s home and yell death threats. It is the reason so many of them are willing to chase conservatives from restaurants and taunt their children. It is the reason the progressives are so angry.

They don’t have Jesus in their hearts. They do not have that joy and that peace. They are fighting for a heaven on earth that they think only they can bring because there is no real heaven, there is no eternity, there is no god, and the worms will soon be eating their bodies. Progressive atheists operate as they do because they sense the clock is running out while Christians know we have time on our side.

People of faith involved in politics know there is a Heaven, there is a Hell, there is an eternity, and there is a day of judgment. They may be forgiven their sins, but they will be called to account. They also know their God, on a cross, extended forgiveness to those who tortured and crucified him and we must show grace and forgiveness to those around us.

Jesus turned the axiom of other religions on their head. Where others said don’t do to others what you don’t want them to do to you, Jesus put it a way unique to Christianity. He said to do to others, an affirmative act, what we want done to us.

If we harass the left the way this kid harassed Chris Cuomo, we are not only signaling we don’t believe our faith, we are expressing signaling we want this done to us.

More importantly, a Christian is just passing through this world and is under an obligation in ways big and small to be good stewards and leave it better than we found it. Harassing other people does not do that and God is going to ask us why we thought we needed to do that instead of letting Him handle it.
