McConnell hits back at “Moscow Mitch” smear

“Moscow Mitch” was trending. Mitch McConnell slapped it down on the Senate floor.

The Left and the mainstream media think that they have Mitch McConnell backed into a corner. Due to his recent opposition to election security bills, Joe Scarborough started calling McConnell “Moscow Mitch”, an attempt to link his opposition to being a Russian asset.

Notwithstanding the fact that elections in the United States are handled at the state level, exactly where it should be handled, McConnell went on the offensive yesterday to clear the charge against him.

American pundits calling on American — calling an American official treasonous because of a policy disagreement. If anything is an asset to the Russians, it is disgusting behavior like that.

McConnell is absolutely right here. Like the racism charges that Democrats and the Left keep trotting out, charges of treason over policy decisions in the Senate are starting to ring hollow. Words have meaning only as long as the meaning behind them isn’t tainted by overuse.

The Left is so desperate to paint their loss in 2016 as the work of Russia and any Republican disagreement on how election tampering should be handled is clear “evidence” that Republicans are all Russian assets. It is as if the Left stopped processing their grief in the anger and denial phases.

Remember way back in 2012 when Obama mocked Mitt Romney for stating that Russia is a threat? Why is it all of the sudden the Left is concerned with Russian meddling when the past decade has seen them take a much softer approach to Putin and his regime?

As McConnell stated:

Regardless of who was in the White House, regardless of the way the political winds were blowing, I have consistently treated Russia like the threat that it is.

The Left and Democrats are grasping at any straw that will help them usurp any Republican, even if they have to call them a traitor. One thing is for sure: Mitch McConnell isn’t going back to Kentucky any time soon. And he’s going to keep putting conservative judges on federal benches across the country while he stays.
