Virginia’s General Assembly Could Flip Blue This Fall. Where Are the Republicans?

The Commonwealth of Virginia is in the Left’s crosshairs. They are very adamant about flipping this state blue, especially since they flipped a handful of General Assembly seats back in fall 2017.

California billionaire Tom Steyer just announced he will put $1 million towards millennial engagement to help flip the state legislature.

“This is a specific focus on the two chambers of the legislature, and each one of them can turn blue this year,” Steyer said. “Obviously, that’s something that would be incredibly important.”

The Washington Post noted Priorities USA and Emily’s List will spend a combined $600,000 for a digital campaign aimed at getting-out-the-vote and “voter persuasion.” This effort, the article says, will prop up 36 pro-abortion female Democrat candidates in the Old Dominion State.

Why is Virginia so important to them? Virginia has been regarded as a critical swing state, though it has shifted blue in recent years. The General Assembly is currently held by Republicans by a 51-49 margin in the House of Delegates and a 21-19 margin in the State Senate, respectively.

One would think Governor Northam’s various scandals—plus those of LG Justin Fairfax and AG Mark Herring—would jeopardize their chances at flipping the General Assembly. Sadly, Northam and his acolytes are emboldened and eager to advance their radical agenda beyond November at all costs.

It also doesn’t help that many state districts are slated to be redrawn in favor of Democrats.

Where are the Virginia Republicans on this? Are they asleep? Knocking on doors? Launching robust digital campaigns? GOTV? Fundraising? If they aren’t already, they should be.

Virginia is at risk of becoming the next New York or California. Let’s ensure this doesn’t happen.
