It is no small wonder that trust in the media is dismally low according to most polls you can find. It is even more interesting that the majority of summary findings were before the Mueller report was released. However, if ratings are any indication, it seems some of the networks and shows that really hyped the Russia narrative have dropped significantly.
Yet it is almost as if the mass media is incapable of self reflection. Or they just prefer to gaze at their navels rather than examine why their industry is dying a slow and painful death. Let me help by giving two examples of how the Democrat media complex becomes so incredibly obvious if you are paying attention.
We all know there is a crisis at the border. There are too many people and more children than our traditional facilities can accommodate. So, the administration is looking for safe and appropriate facilities to house families and children while they are processed. DHS has opted to use underutilized space on military bases. Here is a small selection of headlines about this story:
Trump Admin to Use Army Base That Once Served as Japanese Internment Camp to House 1,400 Migrant Kids – The Daily Beast
Trump Administration to Use Former Japanese Internment Camp to House Migrant Children – Fortune
Trump Administration to Hold Migrant Children at Base That Served as WWII Japanese Internment Camp – Time
Trump administration to house migrant children at Fort Sill, which once served as a Japanese internment camp – USA Today
Geronimo and the Japanese were imprisoned there. Now Fort Sill will hold migrant children — again. – Washington Post
The Trump administration will detain hundreds of migrant children at a military base that was once used as a Japanese internment camp – Business Insider
OH MY GOD!!! Trump is putting migrant children in camps! Just like FDR did with the Japanese! This is terrible, right? Certain CNN contributors who only read the headline certainly thought so:
Odd though. In the same article she quote tweets to express her faux outrage there is the following passage:
The children would be held inside facilities that are separate from the general on-base population. HHS personnel, not American troops, will oversee them.
Using military bases in this way is not new. In 2014, the Obama Administration placed around 7,700 migrant children on bases in Texas, California and Oklahoma, including Fort Sill. The temporary shelters were shuttered after four months. Last year, the government evaluated several military bases to shelter migrants, but ultimately decided not to use the facilities.
So actually this is no different that what the Obama administration did when they had record numbers of unaccompanied minors after the implementation of DACA. And the Trump administration actually decided against it previously. However now they are left with few options thanks to the crisis at the border created by Democrat inaction.
But you would never know that if you only read headlines or chyrons. And doesn’t it all seem a little, I don’t know, coordinated?
And of course we all know that President Trump is a tyrant and will absolutely be clinging to columns on the front of the White House should he lose in 20202, right? An awful lot of that was going around in the last 24 hours:
And I’ll have to use a screenshot of Wajahat Ali’s tweet since he deleted his account after taking a poorly thought out swipe at Texas Representative Dan Crenshaw.:
So staff at Vox, The New York Times and CNN are all pretty worried that Trump is going to barricade himself in the Oval Office. This line is also not new. It is one Nancy Pelosi and Fox News Democrat panelist Juan Williams articulated back in March. it almost seems like a talking point.
It is also patently ridiculous. We have a long history of peaceful transitions of power in this country. I also seem to remember some fringe members of the right asserting the same about President Obama. It was stupid then and it is even dumber now. And very disappointing that supposedly “mainstream’ outlets and party leaders are parroting it.
Never mind these are the same commentators and party leaders that are running around endorsing Stacey Abrams’ claims she is the rightful Governor of Georgia. With zero proof and a myriad of data to the contrary, it is another coordinated talking point that just won’t die.
Clickbait, talking points and nearly identical headlines are occurring more often as the election season heats up. It’s a tactic that may work for a time. However, it is not one that is going to restore trust in the media. In the last Gallup poll on institutional trust in June of 2018, the news media only beat out one other group. That other group is Congress. You’d think there is only one way for the news media to go, which is up. However, as this trend continues and becomes more obvious, I’d put better odds on the opposite.
