If Joe Biden Could Cure Cancer as President, We Should Elect Him

If any candidate had the ability to cure cancer as president, well then we should elect that person. If Joe Biden could cure cancer as president, he'd have my vote. But he can't.

Joe Biden promised an Iowa crowd that if elected president, he’d cure cancer. “I’ve worked so hard in my career, that I promise you,” Biden said, “if I’m elected president you’re gonna see single most important thing that changes America, we’re gonna cure cancer.”

If any candidate had the ability to cure cancer as president, well then we should elect that person. If Joe Biden could cure cancer as president, he’d have my vote. But he can’t.

There’s a difference between “wanting” something, “working so hard” for it, and being able to have it. Politicians frequently say things that are beyond the pale; they make promises nobody should believe. That’s what slogans are for.

But curing cancer is not a slogan. And promising that only as president could Joe Biden cure cancer is not only a dumb thing to say, it’s also an immoral promise. If Joe Biden had the answer to curing cancer, why wouldn’t he cure the dread killer unless he’s president? And what makes Biden think that the government could not try any harder to cure cancer than it did when he was Vice President of the United States?

Biden, as many VP’s, had a portfolio filled with feel-good, and one close to his heart was President Obama’s “Cancer Moonshot” initiative. Cancer was not cured on Obama’s watch, and it hasn’t been cured on Trump’s.

It’s extremely (as in 99.9999 followed by a thousand nines percent) unlikely that Biden being president would lead to a cancer cure. That kind of promise is guaranteed to be broken. Biden should not have made it.
