For all this talk about being at war with the left, the people mouthing off about it sure don’t act like it.
If you’re really at war with the left, one more 1000 word think piece or 240 character tweet won’t win it. Go start blockading and harassing drag queen library days. Go stockpile guns and ammo, pull your kids out of school, and move to some hinterland compound.
It’s very much like the climate crisis folks who tell us the end of the world is nigh before being driven to the airport to hop on their private jets to return to their 20,000 square foot mansions. They don’t act like they think there is a crisis.
You are not acting like you really mean it.
If we are really at war with the left (and I don’t think we are), start acting like it.
But you probably aren’t. You’ll instead tweet incessantly how I just don’t get it or it’s a different kind of war or what have you. But that all kinda exposes that you don’t really believe it.
You are using militaristic language to virtue signal to your own side that you’re more pure than those who are not ready to man 240 character digital ramparts.
What I find more and more is that yes, the left really would like to shut Christians out of the public square. The left is playing to fundamentally change culture. But it really isn’t a war and it mostly just exists in already progressive areas.
The conservatives who think we are at war live there too. They should move. Move to a more ideologically diverse part of the country and realize there is no war. There are angry, mostly anonymous tweeters who have the courage of their anonymity.
One more thing — I don’t oppose more aggressiveness from the right. I’m not a fan of boycotts, but if every pro-life person in America cancelled their Netflix subscription for a month, they’d notice. And perhaps conservatives need to do that.
But that still isn’t a war. As I’ve already written, there are no winners on either side here. To win would require a totalitarian solution for either side to prevent the other from making gains thereafter. And that should be unacceptable to us all.
