Far-right “activists” smear a Democratic front runner.

Jack Burkman and Jacob Wohl worked to falsely accuse Pete Buttigieg of sexual assault.

We all know that the political discourse in this country has hit rock bottom – and kept right on digging. However, the latest stunt by far-right “activists” on a Democrat presidential hopeful has taken to a place no one ever should have.

During the last several days, Pete Buttigieg was accused of sexually assaulting a man named Hunter Kelly. The initial reaction to the accusation was one of skepticism, and with good reason. The whole thing just didn’t smell right.

Soon enough, the truth was revealed. The real Hunter Kelly emerged to set the record straight; that he was never assaulted by Mr. Buttigieg. This revelation led to the claim being removed in a very short amount of time.

It turns out that that two far-right individuals, Jack Burkman and Jacob Wohl, were trying to coerce men to accuse Buttigieg of sexual assault in the hopes that his campaign would be destroyed. After a source notified The Daily Beast of the plot, they tried to reach both Burkman and Wohl:

Neither Burkman nor Wohl responded to repeated requests for comment on this story.  But after The Daily Beast contacted them last week, traces of the scheme disappeared from the web and social media.

Burkman and Wohl believed that Buttigieg presented the biggest threat to Trump in the 2020 election and made the decision to falsely accuse him, a tactic they have previously utilized.

Rightfully, this smear was quickly condemned on both sides. The two individuals in question, Burkman and Wohl, should be exiled from any Republican function. Conservatives debate on the issues and policies, not by using false claims of sexual assault. This was a disgusting act by two disgusting individuals. We as a nation need to be better.
