Nick Bosa is an Ohio State football player and was the number two draft pick in the NFL. Members of the media and leftwing activists have accused Bosa of racially inflammatory and white nationalist rhetoric for…wait for it… calling Colin Kaepernick a clown. Bosa also followed a friend on Instagram who went to high school with him and the friend put up a number of pictures on Instagram where, among the various hashtags the guy used, were some that included the N-word. USA Today, which has a record of trying to ruin the lives of high school and college athletes based on their social media presences, helpfully has screen shots.
But most problematic for Nick Bosa is that he is an outspoken support of President Trump. On more than one occasional, Bosa tweeted his support for the President and for President Reagan. He has used the #MAGA hashtag in tweets as well. As a result, some members of the press hoped to scuttle Bosa’s chances in the NFL Draft and leftwing activists have, for months, been stirring up sentiment online against Bosa. Some have encouraged activists to target reporters to make sure Bosa’s pro-Trump tweets were covered. Others have encouraged spreading Bosa’s record of Trump support to the far corners of the earth in hopes that NFL teams might avoid him or, at least, NFL players might shun him.
Well, none of the leftwing or media agitation against Bosa hurt him. Having called Colin Kaepernick a clown, Bosa got signed by Kaepernick’s old team as the number 2 draft pick. Having withstood the media and leftwing harassment for supporting President Trump, President Trump congratulated him.
That’s too much for the media.
The headlinie at Time: “Kyler Murray, a Black Man, Was the Number One NFL Draft Pick. Trump Congratulated the Number Two Pick Instead.”
The headline at the Washington Post: “Trump praises NFL No. 2 pick Nick Bosa, doesn’t mention top pick Kyler Murray.”
The headline at Vox: Trump congratulates the No. 2 NFL Draft pick, a supporter who called Kaepernick a “clown”
The media is willfully stirring racial animosity in its coverage here.
President Trump is cheering on someone who has not only supported the President, but withstood an online campaign of harassment for doing so. The media would prefer to make this a race issue and fan the flames of racial tension. It is unfortunate.
