Why Don’t We Ever Hear Anything About The Far Left?

A while back I was watching one of those reality competition shows where people from difficult backgrounds jump over obstacles and lift heavy objects for the chance of winning a lot of money. There was the woman who survived breast cancer. There was the man who found himself on the wrong side of the law but got his house in order when his son was born. But there was one woman who really stood out.

Her past struggle was growing up in a conservative household. I never saw any details on that conservative household. It could have been one of those families that lives under a tree and won’t let their kids wear anything other than burlap sacks. Or it could have been a family with a Don’t Blame Me, I Voted for Bush bumper sticker on their car. Sadly, as far as much of the culture sees it, the two are the same.

We hear a lot about the far right. And for good reasons. We’ve seen people with this label do and say terrible things. But many media outlets never talk about the far left. The reason for this goes much deeper than simple media bias. We rarely hear about the far left because it’s now just the left. There’s not much more room left to swing. What was considered the far left less than a generation ago is now running for president and will likely get somewhere around 50% of the vote.

There’s one group that is talking about the far left. They’ve seen it all before. They know how the movie ends. And they’re doing what they can to stop it.

Saga Zhou is all too familiar with Communism. She moved to the United States from China in 2009. Upon her arrival, she noticed that some of the things she was running from were waiting for her in her new country.

After hearing of the left’s embrace of infanticide, ridiculously high taxes in the name of saving the environment, and a growing list of entitlements, Zhou began to feel as if China’s socialism had migrated with her. Abortion really strikes a nerve with Zhou. As her parent’s second born child, she barely escaped China’s one child policy–the brutal mandate that forcibly aborts babies and sterilizes would be mothers–with her life.

Zhou and others like her did not pick up their roots and come to America because the internet speed is faster over here. They came for freedom. They came to get away from the very thing the mainstream left is now embracing.

If you want to know the truth about Communism or socialism, don’t listen to Bernie Sanders or Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Listen to someone who has lived under it. Listen to Saga Zhou.

Zbigniew Brzezinski, National Security Advisor under Jimmy Carter, coined the phrase “mega death” to describe the 20th century. The mega death label can be placed primarily on four men. These four men were responsible for millions of deaths in the 20th century. Hitler, Lenin, Stalin, and Mao were brutal leaders who left demonic destruction in their wake. Much of our culture has done a good job of recognizing and rejecting the evils of Hitler. But they have made a mistake in embracing the doctrine of Mao, Stalin, and Lenin. Two things can be wrong at the same time.

Just as we should reject a politician with even a hint of ties to Nazism, we should also resist those with ties to Communism. There will be ample opportunities to do just that as what was once the far left is now becoming more and more mainstream.
