Twelve years ago on a national radio program, Tucker Carlson said something. I have not listened to the audio. I have no plans to listen to the audio. He said something twelve years ago that the leftwing group Media Matters for America is now using to attack him and his present advertisers.
It is remarkable that the left wants to bind anyone to twelve year old statements. They did the same to Kevin Hart and the Oscars. This whole thing is silly and petty. With both the left and right, I have repeatedly said we should not be assailing decade old statements.
Weaponizing past statements in a game of gotcha serves no purpose other than to harm discourse overall.
Carlson is on television five nights a week. I am sure the left can find a present statement to be outraged about. Having to go back twelve years suggests a level of desperation to hurt Tucker but, more importantly, suggests the real target is Fox News and its advertisers.
