#1 Everything Old Is New Again…And Again…And Again

I started looking at the Green New Deal. Trying to figure out where it came from and how it was being funded. Little did I know that when I wrote my first article, I was only scratching the surface.

For the past two weeks I have been watching videos and reading policy papers that are anywhere from 3 days to 50 years old. And something struck me. The political wrangling that has come up every year since I was born is like a Grimm Brothers fairy tale. The same basic plot, new characters and minor changes in setting or central problem.

Thank God I went to school when we were still required to think critically and breakdown literature. And even though my training is in Human Resources, my secret superpower is understanding organizational design and talent. And boy do these folks have some complex and ever-changing organizations. It’s awfully helpful that they just keep recycling the same talent.

Back to the plot. It is especially evident in presidential elections. Every election is the MOST IMPORTANT ELECTION EVER! And at least according to some will signal the end of life as we know it if the outcome isn’t what they prefer.

Since presidential elections last for two years and midterms last a year, the electorate gets about 12 months to take a deep breath before it starts all over again. I refuse to go into crisis mode for 2020. I am absolutely sure I will not be voting for any of the Democrat hopefuls.

And unless Trump actually shoots someone in Times Square I will be pulling the lever for him in 2020. I won’t sit out again. And the last two weeks have further hardened my resolve.

The walls in my office now look like Glenn Beck’s chalkboards with presentation size Post-it Notes covered in colorful markers and arrows. At several points, over the two week period, I have felt like I needed to be fitted for a shiny tinfoil hat. But I have seen the patterns that emerge with my own two eyes. And the one thing I am thankful for is these people love to talk and the internet is forever.

So for the next few weeks, I will be taking any readers who wish to join me along on my journey. My goal is not panic anyone or create a crisis. I leave that to the radicals to the far left of the center. My goal is to give you information to evaluate for yourself and draw your own conclusions.

I am sure from time to time that something in the current new cycle will catch my attention. Like a primary candidate eating a salad with a comb. So for clarity, I will number pieces related to this research. There is simply no way to cover it in a single post.

But I will close with this. I refuse to pay any further attention to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Those around her and promoting her are far more noteworthy to include members of the media. She is just a character in the story entering stage left to play her part. And if she fails they will find another bit player.
