Silence of the Goats

Jesus, in the red letters in the Bible, says that on the Day of Judgment, he’ll be separating the sheep from the goats and the goats will go away to eternal punishment. The Christ won’t have to work too hard. The issue of infanticide is doing some of the work for him.

As of this writing, go to Red Letter Christians and you’ll find defenses of democratic socialism, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and calls to take climate change seriously, but you’ll find nothing about the abortion legislation in New York and Virginia.

Tony Campolo, one of the founders of Red Letter Christians, is silent on social media. His partner at Red Letter Christians, Shane Clairborne, is mourning the execution of a cop killer and has been absolutely silent about the abortion legislation in New York and Virginia.

Over at Sojourners, there is a biblical defense of democratic socialism and upset over climate change. There is nothing about the infanticide advocacy on the left. But they are really upset about the failure of the Equal Rights Amendment in Virginia. They are silent on social media as well.

Jim Wallis, founder of Sojourners and someone who claims to be pro-life, is on social media advocating principle over party regarding the shutdown fight, but he too is silent about infanticide.

The best the goats have to offer is Christian turned Episcopalian Rachel Held Evans who is defending the infanticide measures by retweeting other people trying to gas light.

She retweeted this one that wants to deflect from the fact Kathy Tran of Virginia said a woman could abort during labor. She retweeted this one claiming Christians are lying about what the Governor of Virginia said by quoting him. She retweeted this one that actually presents a blatant falsehood. The fact is there are numerous studies that show one of the single biggest issues that causes a late term abortion is a change in lifestyle circumstance.

In fact, what is notable is that progressives are claiming a widely circulated study ignored fetal defect issues in late term abortion. But there are actually plenty of other studies going back to the eighties showing changes in life are bigger issues. But there is also current data showing “fetal defect” has been altered to mean even that the mother consumed drugs late in a pregnancy, so now the baby is considered to have a physical defect. Just, for example, check out the District of Columbia’s guide to late term abortions.

It is probably past time Evans gives up the charade that she is pro-life. She demands Republicans stand up and oppose the President, but can’t even oppose infanticide and late term abortions.

Christ Jesus said the sheep and goats will be separated. These goats are publicly separating from Christendom in their silence on moral issues. They love to demand orthodox Christians take stands on all sorts of things, but their own silence exposes them.

“Then they will also answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and didn’t help you?’ “Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Most certainly I tell you, because you didn’t do it to one of the least of these, you didn’t do it to me.’ These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
