Arizona Senator Jon Kyl has announced he will resign at the end of the year. This leaves a major appointment to newly reelected Arizona Governor, Doug Doucey.

Doucey will appoint a replacement to finish the remainder of Senator McCain’s term, which ends in 2020.

Early speculation is that Arizona Congresswoman, Martha McSally is a top contender for the position. McSally recently lost the Arizona Senate seat vacated by Jeff Flake.
