Watching the KY6 race

Andy Barr faces a tough race against Amy McGrath

7:26pm EST: With 41% reporting, McGrath leads incumbent Barr by 52.5% to 46.4%

Half of urban Fayette county has reported. This is where a majority of McGrath’s votes are coming from. The question remains whether Barr can pick up enough votes from the more conservative and suburban/rural Madison, Bourbon, and Scott counties.

9:02pm EST: With 94% reporting, the AP has called this race for Barr. Woodford has still not reported and there are still uncounted precincts in Fayette county, but not enough of those votes will break McGrath’s way.

National Democrats poured money and attention into this race. McGrath ran a close contest, but missed connecting with voters outside of more liberal enclaves around Lexington.
