Vote For The Future

Consider this a friendly reminder: Elections are about more than the next two years. Get out and VOTE!

Every election cycle, we hear that this is the most important election of our lifetime. It certainly starts sounding cliché after the fifth or sixth election that you hear it, but it’s true in a sense. In golf, the most important ball you will ever hit is the one you are standing over now. In the same way, the current voting cycle is the most important, because it is the one you can directly affect now.

Your actions today carry over to influence the future. Voters do more than elect people to hold office and make policy for the next couple years. Voters make or break careers with each election. Voters decide who will be viable office holders in the future. Obviously, winners will be influential no matter what, but a narrow loss may allow a candidate to return again for another bite of the apple. A blow-out loss though usually ends all but the most stubborn ambitions. So conservatives need to give our candidates the largest margins of victory possible, even for races where victory is certain.

Two of the greatest successes for conservatives in recent memory were the 2010 and 2014 cycles. The destruction of Democrats at the ballot box destroyed the farm team of left-wing candidates for higher office across the country. In other words, those two elections shortened their bench.

Thus, it is important to get out and vote for conservatives for more reasons than just Kavanaugh. Imagine if the GOP hadn’t abandoned the Illinois Senate race in 2004. Perhaps Obama could have been stopped there. Dream of a world with no Obamacare or any of the other horrors resulting from that administration.

This election is not just about pro-Trump or anti-Trump! Our votes will decide who will take office and be around to lead the Republican Party and the country in the future.

If we abandon real conservatives this November, only establishment hacks will be left to take the reins in a couple years. Whether you love MAGA or hate it, the reality is that movement won’t last past Trump.

Conservatism has to be re-won every election. After Trump’s fate is determined, others will take over. The only people who will be viable to assume those leadership roles will be holding office. We need to get as many true conservatives in there as possible for the sake of the country and the sake of conservatism.

Men like Rep. DeSantis (who is running for Governor of Florida) are critical to conservatives’ future power in the GOP. As Daniel Horowitz of Conservative Review said,

There are many other good conservatives out there who could be excellent Presidential contenders going forward too. We need to support as many as possible. Our future leaders will be decided in the coming elections, especially this one. We cannot stay home and let others decide them for us.
