Former first child Chelsea Clinton took time out of her busy schedule last weekend to sing the praises of the Left’s most cherished idol. Speaking at a “Rise up for Roe” event Saturday, Clinton lauded the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision for enabling women to add more than $3 trillion to the US economy.
“It is not a disconnected fact … that American women entering the labor force from 1973 to 2009 added three and a half trillion dollars to our economy,” Clinton stated. “That is not disconnected from the fact that Roe became the law of the land in January of 1973.”
Not surprisingly, that comment drew strong responses from a number of pundits including a brief but on-point commentary from The Washington Examiner’s Becket Adams. In addition to demolishing Clinton’s economic argument, Adams points out the utter obscenity of her position on the issue.
“I thought it wasn’t about the money. I thought it was about choice and personal autonomy. Clinton’s focus here on the supposed economic benefits of Roe is unsettling. To endorse it as a money-generator is one step away from endorsing termination-for-profit.”
Of course we know that although it’s not usually openly endorsed as such, abortion truly has become largely a termination-for-profit game. It really is about the money. One need look no further than the largest provider of abortion services — Planned Parenthood — to see that murdering human beings in utero is a highly lucrative enterprise.
Although it is legally registered as a non-profit entity, Planned Parenthood’s 2016-17 annual report notes that it posted a profit in excess of $98 million during that year, thanks to a whopping $1.4 billion in revenue. Yes, you read that right. $1.4 billion in revenue in a single year.
Oh, and let’s not forget — the American taxpayer ponied up $543 million of that $1.4 billion. Though we’ve heard a lot about that government support in recent years, here’s one thing you may not have heard: As of the release of that 2016-17 statement, Planned Parenthood boasted more than $1.6 billion in assets.
But as obscene as their incredible revenues and profits are, one other number is far more sinister — and is what this whole mess boils down to.
That number: 321,384.
That’s the number of abortions performed by Planned Parenthood during the time they made that $98.5 million profit on $1.4 billion in revenues. And if you paid taxes, you helped make it happen.
