It is not the outcome of the accord that matter, but the signatures. Because our signature is not there, we are doomed. We’re all going to die, according to a group of people who think you can pick your gender and life begins when a baby goes home from the hospital.
This is what the intellectual left has come to. Because everyone else is doing it, we must do it. Because all the countries have signed it, we must sign it. Because all the CEO’s want it, we must do it. Because the mob demands it, we must do it. Lemmings.
For what? Nothing other than the salvific effect of ink on a page.
Since the sixties, leftwing activists have presented doom and gloom scenarios. There would be overpopulation and we’d all starve to death. There’d be global cooling and we’d all freeze to death. There’d be famine and we’d all starve to death. There’d be global warming and we’d all burn up. There’d be a resource shortage and we’d all die.
The fatalism of a secular left with no belief in God has turned to a finite belief in an earth where humanity itself is original sin. Our existence is pollution. Because the left sees humanity itself as original sin, it cannot fathom that we can adapt or innovate our way out of the problem. We can put a man on the moon, but we’re all gonna die because of rising oceans and fire.
Yes, in fact, humanity plays a role in affecting climate. There are several billion of us. To say we have no impact is to say we do not exist. But I am sure the left vastly overstates our impact because the left believes humanity is a blight on an otherwise pure planet. The left believes in evolution, but not our ability to adapt. The left believes the planet cannot heal nor can the planet itself adapt, puny goddess that it is.
The truth is we are all going to die. But it won’t be because of global warming. I have read the end of the book. There will be famine. There will be drought. There will be flood. And there will be war. Then there will be a last day where we stand before our Maker are are called to account.
Worrying about global warming and social justice won’t get you past the pearly gates. Saving souls will. But it is hard to save souls when you don’t believe in the God of creation because you are too busy worshipping that creation.
The world is warming. It will cool again too. It is a natural phenomenon that has been going on for billions of years. Yes we contribute to it because we are part of the system. No we do not cause it because it has been going on since the world was formed. So you will have to excuse me for not caring. We’re all going to die one way or the other and I bet it is other.
