I really don’t understand how prominent Christians, otherwise strong in their faith, can continue to defend Donald Trump. I mean, look at Franklin Graham’s Twitter timeline.
Yes and Amen…then this Tweetstorm of deflection and apology on behalf of Trump.
Graham is factually wrong: Trump did not apologize in any meaningful way for his past behavior. He actually blamed the women, and publicly indicated that at least one accuser was simply too ugly for him to have groped her. “Full responsibility?” Not even close.
Then the second argument: well it doesn’t matter anyway. Why are we even bothering with this? Let’s even give Hillary Clinton a pass on her email server scandal, if it gets Trump off the hook. Supreme Court! Remember the justices! Look! A shiny toy! Don’t focus on the pigs dining at the table, just smell the wonderful food!
C’mon, Rev. Graham. Any sixteen-year-old youth camp counselor has more discernment than that. When you dine with pigs, you eat slop. If a boy was doing these things or saying these things about high school girls, we’d all gather around in a prayer circle, but we wouldn’t let him be a leader.
Trump is 70 years old. He’s been this way his whole life, with no evidence of a change. If it was eleven years ago or thirty-five doesn’t matter, because Trump has not responded in a way a repentant soul would respond. He’s a pig and you’re dining with pigs, along with far too many evangelical leaders.
I pray you repent and return from being the prodigal, along with Jerry Falwell, Jr., Robert Jeffress, Mike Huckabee, and Dr. James Dobson.
