Trump Overrides Own Campaign and Doubles Down on His Actual Racism

With an African-American friend or two in tow—and boy, would George Wallace and Richard Russell be so proud of him!—Donald Trump today quashed internal campaign dissent and decided to double down on his overtly racist attack on the purportedly disqualifying Mexican heritage of Indiana born-and-raised, anti-drug cartel federal judge Gonzalo Curiel.  With the Party of Lincoln represented by the likes of the feckless Mitch McConnell—lackeys who refuse to call out actual racism for actual racism—can you blame Trump for his obstinacy?

Cue Bloomberg, reporting on a private campaign phone call:

An embattled Donald Trump urgently rallied his most visible supporters to defend his attacks on a federal judge’s Mexican ancestry during a conference call on Monday in which he ordered them to question the judge’s credibility and impugn reporters as racists.

And now for the truly unbelievable part:

When former Arizona Governor Jan Brewer interrupted the discussion to inform Trump that his own campaign had asked surrogates to stop talking about the lawsuit in an e-mail on Sunday, Trump repeatedly demanded to know who sent the memo, and immediately overruled his staff.

‘Take that order and throw it the hell out,’ Trump said.

Told the memo was sent by Erica Freeman, a staffer who circulates information to surrogates, Trump said he didn’t know her.  He openly questioned how the campaign could defend itself if supporters weren’t allowed to talk.

‘Are there any other stupid letters that were sent to you folks?’ Trump said.  ‘That’s one of the reasons I want to have this call, because you guys are getting sometimes stupid information from people that aren’t so smart.’

So, let’s get this straight.  Faced with the reality that “Mexican” judge Gonzalo Curiel is just as American as any natural-born citizen, and with his own campaign confiding that it had informed surrogates to abort and cease defending the clear-cut racist implication that Judge Curiel—whose parents immigrated legally to the United States from Mexico—is somehow disqualified to rule in the Trump University fraud case because Trump likes to (non-sensically) demagogue at his “alt-right” cult meetings rallies about forcing the Mexican government to pay for the wall, the New York narcissist decided to not abandon ship, but to double down.

Just like when Newt Gingrich himself went rogue from Trumpkin home base in criticizing Trump’s racism on the Sunday talk shows, Trump will tolerate no dissent.  Like every other would-be fascistic strongman who predated him, Trump’s own contempt for dissent mirrors the “You Will be Made to Care” intolerance of the Left that Erick has bemoaned for years.  Funny, I thought we wouldn’t see this kind of disunity—Trump only hires the best people, right?  Right.

Faced with numerous opportunities to dig himself out of this hole, the orange-hued clown just grabs his shovel and keeps on digging.  Maybe he’ll keep on digging until he gets to his other geopolitical archenemy, China—all the better to take our jobs back from the Beijing politburo, right?

What an absolute dumpster fire.  Your Republican Party nominee for president of the United States, ladies and gentlemen.
