Good Christian Men Rejoice. Evangelicals Take Out Trump.

Read this over at the Weekly Standard. The polling in Iowa underestimated the number of evangelicals who would turn out in Iowa. While secular voters went for Trump, evangelicals went for Cruz.

[Cruz] won 34 percent of evangelicals, while Trump won 22 percent and Rubio won 21 percent. Among the 36 percent of caucusgoers who aren’t evangelicals, Trump took 29 percent, Rubio took 26 percent, and Cruz took 18 percent.

In other words, Cruz and Rubio got over 50% of the evangelical vote. There was certainly a split with Trump getting 22%, but the one-third for Cruz caused significant and disruptive trouble for Trump. In fact, that is a pretty significant story from last night. Despite all the New York media attacks on Ted Cruz, the truth is that the “New York values” message from Ted Cruz worked in Iowa.
