It’s that Jeb Bush, John Kasich, Chris Christie, Carly Fiorina, etc. can look at the polling picture above and think, “Only I can stop Cruz and Trump. No way am I supporting that kid from Florida.”
Really, I realize that politicians have large egos. But at this point, there is no way that those candidates are suddenly going to get a bounce.
We know historically that the two candidates who start blowing each other up in Iowa start hurting. Dean and Gephardt sabotaged each other. Now it is happening with Trump and Cruz.
You’d think a freaked out class of politicians and donors in the Republican Party would say, “Hey! If we all throw our support to Rubio now, we could really affect this in the two weeks before Iowa.”
Instead . . . . wow. No wonder the Democrats have been kicking the GOP’s butt these last number of years at the Presidential level. The Bush donors act like they’re in a cult with no way out and the others just seem too clueless or arrogant.
