Serious question here — I’m wondering if you guys have noticed this pattern too. It was actually ComfortablySmug on Twitter who got me noticing it and I’m starting to wonder if there is something to it.
There is only one name from the Trump campaign and administration who has not appeared in all the scandalous stories. There is one name that has been associated with the Trump campaign from near the beginning, has stayed with Trump through now, and has remarkably never been implicated in anything despite there being clear sources in the White House smearing other people in the White House.
There have been no dead pools on this person’s tenure. There have been no high profile New York Times gossip stories about this person. There have been no Washington Post stories suggesting this person was in campaign meetings that the person would undoubtedly have attended or known details about.
It is really, really remarkable how Hope Hicks has just completely escaped mention in stories that involve clear White House sourcing of internal issues and personnel. Every single other person gets brought up, but Hicks has a remarkable ability to escape cleanly and unmentioned.
Now, you might conclude that just means she is rock solid, a steady hand, etc. You could conclude that.
Or you might just wonder if she is one of the sources reporters are sparing to keep feeding them information.
