Alabama Democrats Call Evangelicals “American Taliban” On Facebook

By  |  March 19, 2017, 10:30am  |  @treyedwardsal

Yesterday, the Marion County Alabama Democratic Party posted a link to an inflammatory article on their official Facebook Page with the title “It’s Time To Start Calling American Evangelicals What They Are: The American Taliban.”

The article, written by a JC Weatherby, claims that “the extremists always give themselves away with their trademark refrain, “I’ll pray for you,” as if you are possessed by demons and in need of an exorcism.” The article concludes with this paragraph:

Evangelicals are The American Taliban. To many, that will seem a garish and inconceivable statement. The entire purpose of this article is to point out that religious extremism also exists in America as it does in other parts of the world, and that it is not just radical muslims who are extreme, it’s also radical christians … and that religious extremism can start with something as simple as, “I’ll pray for you.”

This post on the official account of a county Democratic Party in Alabama specifically says that the article is “Very powerful” and “true.”

Jay McCaney, the host of the “Christian Conservative Live Show” on Facebook Live, lives just a couple counties north of this local Democratic group and posted some pretty compelling thoughts on the matter:

Do you agree with the Alabama Democrats? Do you think Evangelical Christians are “The American Taliban”? Share this article on Facebook or Twitter and tag @TheResurgent to let us know your thoughts.
